Wellbeing Therapies

Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a gentle holistic energy therapy, combining the ancient principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern muscle response testing techniques. Kinesiology uses simple, safe muscle response testing procedures to gain an insight into the areas of stress and imbalance within the energy system. It is based upon the premise that any issues within an energy system will eventually be reflected as a form of stress in the body.  Kinesiology can be used to work on every aspect of a person’s wellbeing across the physical, psychological, emotional, nutritional and spiritual levels. Kinesiology uses specialised lymphatic massage, nutrition, energy reflexes (using gentle acupressure) and emotional releasing techniques to identify and relieve imbalances which may be preventing the individual from enjoying optimum health.

What can you use Kinesiology for?

As Kinesiology works with the whole of the person it can bring relief from a vast array of ailments including but not limited to:

  • Emotional issues
  • Tiredness
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Digestive problems
  • Food sensitivities
  • Grief
  • Unbalanced hormones
  • Muscle pain
  • Poor posture
  • Weight management

What to expect in a session?

Whether you are new to kinesiology or a returning client, at the start of the session we will have a chat about how you feel and what the most pressing issue is for you, for example this could be an emotional issue or physical pain that you are experiencing. Together we will agree on a positive goal that we will work towards during our session.

Using muscle response testing we will identify where there are energy imbalances in the body and establish which corrections will work best for you during the session.  You will be fully clothed and can be on a couch or standing, whichever you prefer.

Corrections include but are not limited to:

  • Emotional Stress Release techniques
  • Neurolymphatic massage
  • Holding neurovascular points
  • Tracing meridians
  • Holding acupressure points
  • ‘Retraining’ tight muscles using reactive muscle techniques
  • Beneficial food recommendations
  • Identifying food sensitivities

All the corrections used are designed to balance the energy flow around your meridian system which enables self-healing for the body and mind.

At the end of the session we will review your goal and see how your body has responded to the session.  You will be given advice to work on outside of the session which will help you further achieve your goal.

How long will a session last?

Your first session will last approximately 1 hour 45 minutes and follow up sessions last between 1 hour 15 and 1 hour 30 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

Some people find that their needs are met in one session, however, often our issues are like layers of an onion and it can take several sessions to work through them.  Having three kinesiology sessions will give you a good indication of how your body is responding to the treatment.  Ultimately, everyone is different and so are individuals responses.  Lots of clients use kinesiology as an ongoing way of keeping their energy systems in balance.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been practised for thousands of years in China. In a few decades, acupuncture has become very popular and widely recognised therapy of Chinese Medicine in the western world. Over many thousands of years, it has been suggested that acupuncture stimulates the release of the body’s natural painkillers and affects areas in the brain involved in processing pain.

Acupuncture is an ancient and proven system of natural healing, offering a holistic approach to treatment. Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners use various mind and body practices (such as acupuncture and tai chi) as well as herbal products to address health problems.

Acupuncture is a technique in which practitioners stimulate specific points on the body, usually by inserting thin needles through the skin. There are 12 primary, 12 divergent, 8 extraordinary and 15 luo-connecting channels belonging to this system. Each of these points have particular functions when stimulated alone, but it can also be more effective to use a combination of points.

It works by stimulating our own healing responses, with a valuable, broader effect of improving energy levels and enhancing body, mind and spirit as a whole. Acupuncture is comparable to morphine preparations in its effectiveness against chronic pain, without the side effects.

Why should I choose acupuncture?

Acupuncture enhances your general wellbeing by focusing treatment on you as an individual, with the emphasis on the root of your condition.
